Scott’n’Wiseman have two main events each year, examinations and our
annual show usually staged at the Broadway Theatre, Catford. We primarily focus on
these two events however we’re trying to reintroduce the extra shows, competitions,
auditions and internal dance workshops that we were previously able to attend and
arrange to introduce our students to different styles of dance and performance.

ANNUAL EVENTS
EXAMS

Examinations occur once
a year for all disciplines and entries are at the discretion of the teacher. Pupils
are entered according to their ability and age commencing from the age of four, but
on no account are they compulsory. Scott’n’Wiseman follows the National Association
of Teachers of Dancing (NATD), the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA)
and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) syllabuses. Professional
teaching qualifications can also be obtained by sitting the Associate, Licentiate and
Fellowship examinations.

Prior to entry for the exams all pupils will be
informal assessed in each discipline and will receive a mock exam. The informal
assessments occur after the October half term and are merely a way for our students
to have an understanding of how they are doing in the class and things that need to
be improved upon in order to take the exam. The mock exams occur just before the
Christmas break and are a more definite way of deciding whether a student is entered
for the exam. If you have any questions about the assessments or mock exams please
don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.

Since it was opened in June
1999 the students of Scott’n’Wiseman have obtained 100% pass rates in all
disciplines. This is a great achievement not only of our students but of our teaching
staff and we are extremely proud.

SHOW

Once a year Scott’n’Wiseman stages a
major production, enabling all our pupils not matter which age or class they’re in to
take part. Every attention is given to costume design, choreography and lighting to
make each routine as entertaining as possible for the audience and the performers.
Rehearsals begin once examinations have been completed with full show rehearsals
being held during the month prior to the show. All we ask of our parents is that they
make sure their child/children attend all rehearsals, costumes are completed a
minimum of four weeks prior to the show and that on the dress rehearsal and show
nights ALL parents or guardians assist on one or more nights to enable the show to
run smoothly.

Please note that the show is not compulsory, all we ask is
that we are advised in advance if your child is not taking part.

As part of
our annual show we award our most improved and outstanding achievers in dance,
singing and drama an award. The receivers of the awards are chosen not only by their
performance during the show but also on their attitude and behaviour throughout the
year.
